What is Raydium?
Raydium (RAY) is one of the main decentralized exchanges on Solana. Launched in 2021, it is an automated market maker where users trade tokens against liquidity pools, and liquidity providers earn a share of the trading fees in return.
Raydium offers standard pools, concentrated liquidity pools that let providers focus their funds in a chosen price range, and tools for launching new tokens. It became a central venue for Solana meme coin trading, as many tokens created on launchpads such as pump.fun moved their liquidity to Raydium after launch. The protocol also runs LaunchLab, its own token launch platform, and a perpetual futures product.
RAY is used for governance and staking. A portion of trading fees is used to buy back RAY on the open market, which links the token to how much trading takes place on the exchange.
