Altcoin Season Index history
Top 50 altcoins vs Bitcoin, last 90 days
Bitcoin: +34.0%. 28 of 50 altcoins did better.
Purple bars beat Bitcoin. Stablecoins and wrapped, staked or bridged tokens are excluded.
How it is calculated
Each day we take the 50 largest coins by market cap, leaving out Bitcoin, stablecoins and tokens that only track another asset (wrapped, staked and bridged tokens). We compare each coin's 90-day price change with Bitcoin's and report the share that did better, from 0 to 100. Coins without 90 days of history are left out of that day's count. Frequently asked questions
What is altcoin season?
A period when most large altcoins rise faster than Bitcoin. By our measure, it is altcoin season when at least 75% of the top 50 altcoins beat Bitcoin over the last 90 days.
What is Bitcoin season?
The opposite: when 25% or fewer of the top 50 altcoins beat Bitcoin over 90 days, Bitcoin is leading the market.
Why 90 days?
Shorter windows flip back and forth with every swing; 90 days captures a market trend while still reacting within a season.
Which coins are counted?
The 50 largest by market cap each day, excluding Bitcoin, stablecoins and wrapped, staked or bridged versions of other coins.
