What is Market cap?
A coin's price multiplied by the number of coins in circulation: what the market values everything already out there at.
Market capitalization is the most common way to compare cryptocurrencies by size. If a coin trades at $2 and 500 million coins are circulating, its market cap is $1 billion.
Price alone says little: a $0.01 coin can be worth more in total than a $1,000 coin if far more of it exists. That is why rankings on this site are ordered by market cap, not price.
Keep in mind that market cap is a snapshot of the last trade price, not money that could actually be withdrawn. For thinly traded coins, selling even a small share of the supply would push the price down, so the "real" value can be much lower. Compare it with trading volume and liquidity before trusting a big number.
