What is Pax Dollar?
Pax Dollar (USDP) is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos, a New York-based company founded in 2012 and led by co-founder and CEO Charles Cascarilla. It launched in 2018 under the name Paxos Standard and was renamed Pax Dollar in 2021.
Paxos is a limited-purpose trust company chartered and regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services. USDP is backed 1:1 by cash and short-term US government securities held in segregated accounts, and Paxos publishes regular attestations of its reserves. The token is available on Ethereum and Solana and can be redeemed for dollars through Paxos.
