About TrueUSD
TrueUSD (TUSD) is a dollar-pegged stablecoin that launched in 2018. It was created by TrustToken with a focus on transparency, offering regular attestations to show that tokens in circulation are matched by US dollar reserves.
TUSD was later sold to Techteryx, a firm linked to Hong Kong-based investors, and its profile grew when it was heavily promoted on Binance and associated with TRON founder Justin Sun. It is available on several blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, BNB Chain and Avalanche.
In recent years TUSD has faced difficulties, including questions about the management of part of its reserves, which were reported to be tied up in illiquid investments, and legal disputes involving its custodians. It has occasionally traded away from its one-dollar peg. As with any stablecoin, its stability depends on the quality and accessibility of the assets behind it.
