What is Monad?

Monad (MON) is a high-performance layer-1 blockchain that is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Its mainnet launched in November 2025 after years of development and one of the most anticipated token launches of that year.

Monad aims for around 10,000 transactions per second with roughly one-second blocks. It executes transactions in parallel, separates consensus from execution and uses its own database, MonadDB, all while letting Ethereum apps and wallets work without changes. MON pays for gas and is staked to secure the network.
