What is Verge?
Verge (XVG) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that launched in 2014 under the name DogecoinDark before rebranding. It was created to make everyday transactions harder to trace than on Bitcoin, and it was not funded through an ICO or premine.
Verge routes wallet traffic through anonymity networks such as Tor and I2P to hide users' IP addresses, and its Wraith Protocol adds stealth addresses for private payments. The network is secured by proof-of-work mining. In 2018 it suffered several attacks that exploited weaknesses in its timestamp and multi-algorithm mining setup, allowing attackers to mine many blocks. XVG is used as a payment currency.
