What is SKALE?

SKALE (SKL) is the token of SKALE, a network of EVM-compatible blockchains linked to Ethereum, co-founded by Jack O'Holleran and Stan Kladko, whose mainnet launched in 2020. SKALE lets projects run their own chains with zero gas fees for end users, with chain operators instead paying subscription fees.

The network is secured by independent validators who stake SKL, and chains are run by randomly rotated groups of these validators. SKL is used for staking, to pay for chain subscriptions and for governance. The project now emphasises payments, privacy features and infrastructure for AI agents.
