What is Quantum Resistant Ledger?
Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL) is a blockchain designed to stay secure even if powerful quantum computers become able to break the signature schemes used by Bitcoin and Ethereum. The project was founded by Peter Waterland, and its mainnet launched in June 2018.
Instead of standard elliptic curve signatures, QRL uses XMSS, a hash-based signature scheme that is considered resistant to quantum attacks. The network has been secured by proof-of-work mining with the RandomX algorithm, and the team has been developing a next version that moves to proof of stake and adds smart contracts. The QRL coin is used for transfers, transaction fees and mining rewards.
