Nervos Network (CKB) is a layered blockchain network launched in 2019. Its base layer, the Common Knowledge Base, is a proof-of-work chain designed as a secure store of assets, while faster layer-2 networks handle everyday transactions.
CKB uses a "cell" model, an extension of Bitcoin's UTXO design that supports smart contracts. Holding CKB gives holders on-chain storage space, linking the token to the amount of data stored. The project has recently focused on Bitcoin layer-2 solutions such as RGB++ and the Fiber Network.
