ETHGas (GWEI) is the token of ETHGas, a protocol that treats Ethereum blockspace as a tradable commodity. It splits upcoming block space into smaller units that can be bought and sold in advance, so applications can lock in transaction costs and get faster confirmations than Ethereum's standard 12-second blocks through real-time sequencing.
The project also aims to create a forward market for gas, similar to futures markets for energy, and runs the Open Gas Initiative, which lets applications cover gas fees so end users do not have to. The GWEI token is used within the ETHGas ecosystem for incentives and participation.
