What is Core?

Core (CORE) is the native token of Core, an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain launched in 2023 that ties its security to Bitcoin. It uses a consensus model called Satoshi Plus, combining delegated proof of work from Bitcoin miners, delegated proof of stake with CORE tokens and non-custodial Bitcoin staking.

Validators are elected based on hash power delegated by miners and on staked CORE and BTC. CORE is used to pay gas fees, for staking and governance, and as a reward for those who help secure the network.
