What is Band?

Band (BAND) is the token of Band Protocol, a cross-chain data oracle founded in 2017 that supplies smart contracts with external data such as prices. It runs on its own blockchain, BandChain, built with the Cosmos SDK.

Validators on BandChain fetch data from outside sources, agree on the result and publish it so applications on many blockchains can use it. The project has also expanded toward data services for AI applications. BAND is staked by validators and delegators to secure the network, used for governance, and paid as fees for data requests.
