What is Astar?
Astar (ASTR) is the token of the Astar ecosystem, a Japan-focused blockchain project led by Sota Watanabe. It started as a smart contract network in the Polkadot ecosystem that supports both Ethereum and WebAssembly contracts.
Astar later launched Soneium-related projects with Sony and has expanded to multiple chains. ASTR is used for governance, staking and to reward developers through its dApp staking program.
