Ardor (ARDR) is the native token of Ardor, a blockchain-as-a-service platform developed by Jelurida, the team behind the earlier Nxt blockchain, and launched in January 2018. Ardor uses a parent-chain and child-chain design: the main chain provides security and consensus, while child chains offer ready-made features for businesses and projects that do not want to build a blockchain from scratch.
Ardor runs on proof of stake, which it calls forging. ARDR is used to forge blocks and secure the network, while transaction fees on child chains can be paid in the child chain's own token. Ardor also supports features such as asset issuance, messaging, voting and lightweight smart contracts.
