What is Across Protocol?

Across Protocol (ACX) is the governance token of Across, a cross-chain bridge that moves tokens between Ethereum and its layer-2 networks and other chains. Across was incubated by Risk Labs, the team behind UMA, and launched in 2021.

Across uses an intents model: a user states the transfer they want, independent relayers fill it quickly from their own funds on the destination chain, and are repaid later from a shared liquidity pool once UMA's optimistic oracle confirms the transfer was valid. ACX holders vote on protocol settings and incentive programmes, and the token is used to reward liquidity providers.
