About GALA
GALA is the token of Gala, a blockchain gaming and entertainment company founded in 2019 by Eric Schiermeyer, a co-founder of Zynga. It powers Gala Games, a platform of web3 games, and has expanded into music and film through Gala Music and Gala Film.
Gala runs its own blockchain, GalaChain, where GALA is used to pay transaction fees, buy in-game items and reward people who run nodes. The project has faced internal disputes and a security incident in 2024, when a compromised account minted a large number of tokens before the issue was contained.
