About LUSD Stablecoin
Liquity USD (LUSD) is a dollar-pegged stablecoin created by Liquity, a decentralized borrowing protocol on Ethereum launched in 2021. Users lock ETH as collateral and borrow LUSD against it without paying ongoing interest, only a one-time fee, as long as their position stays above a 110% collateral ratio.
The peg is supported by the ability to redeem LUSD for ETH at face value directly from the protocol. Undercollateralized loans are covered by a Stability Pool funded with LUSD, and by other borrowers as a last resort. The original Liquity contracts are immutable and have no governance, so their rules cannot be changed after deployment.
