About Optimism
Optimism (OP) is the governance token of the Optimism Collective, which develops OP Mainnet and the OP Stack. OP Mainnet is an Ethereum layer-2 rollup that bundles transactions off-chain to cut fees, while the OP Stack is open-source software that lets anyone launch their own compatible rollup.
Many major networks run on the OP Stack, including Coinbase's Base, Uniswap's Unichain, Kraken's Ink and World Chain. Together they form the Superchain, and member chains share part of their revenue with the Collective. OP holders vote on upgrades and on funding public goods through the project's retroactive grant programs.
