About Eigen
EigenCloud (EIGEN), previously known as EigenLayer, is a restaking protocol on Ethereum. It lets ETH stakers reuse their staked assets to secure additional services, such as data availability layers, oracles and bridges, in exchange for extra rewards, with the risk that their stake can be cut if they misbehave.
The project rebranded to EigenCloud in 2025 to focus on verifiable computing for developers, including AI applications. Its own services include EigenDA, a data availability layer. EIGEN is used for staking and for intersubjective disputes, where the community can punish faults that code alone cannot detect.
