About Rocket Pool Protocol
Rocket Pool (RPL) is the token of Rocket Pool, a decentralized liquid staking protocol for Ethereum. The team began work in 2016, led by David Rugendyke, and the protocol launched on mainnet in 2021.
Anyone can deposit as little as 0.01 ETH and receive rETH, a token that grows in value as staking rewards accrue. Independent node operators run validators using a fraction of the usual 32 ETH, with the rest coming from depositors, and earn commission on that pooled ETH. Joining as an operator is permissionless. RPL is staked by node operators as additional collateral and to earn rewards, and is used for governance of the protocol.
