About Axie Infinity Shard
Axie Infinity (AXS) is the governance token of Axie Infinity, a game where players collect, breed and battle creatures called Axies. Developed by Sky Mavis, it became the face of the play-to-earn boom in 2021, especially in the Philippines, where many players earned income from it.
The game runs on Ronin, an Ethereum sidechain built by Sky Mavis, which suffered a major hack in 2022. AXS is used for governance, staking rewards and certain in-game purchases, while the separate SLP token is earned through gameplay.
