About Derive
Derive (DRV) is the governance token of Derive, a decentralized platform for trading crypto options, perpetual futures and structured products. The project was previously known as Lyra, one of the earliest on-chain options exchanges, and rebranded to Derive in 2024.
Derive runs on its own rollup chain built on Ethereum with the OP Stack. Trading uses an order book with off-chain matching and on-chain settlement, which lets it offer a speed and experience closer to centralized exchanges while users keep custody of their funds. Its portfolio margin system lets traders use one pool of collateral across many positions.
DRV holders vote on protocol decisions through the Derive DAO, which collects trading fees and network fees from the chain. Part of the fees support an insurance fund that helps protect the system during sharp market moves.
