About Metronome Synth USD
Metronome Synth USD (MSUSD) is a synthetic dollar created through Metronome Synth, a DeFi protocol where users deposit crypto collateral and mint synthetic assets against it. msUSD is designed to track the US dollar and is overcollateralized, meaning the value of deposited assets must exceed the amount of msUSD minted.
It is available on Ethereum, Optimism and Base and can be swapped for other synthetic assets in the protocol or used in DeFi liquidity pools. Like other crypto-backed stablecoins, its peg depends on collateral values and on users maintaining safe positions.
