About Aurora
Aurora (AURORA) is the token of Aurora, an Ethereum-compatible environment built on top of the NEAR Protocol. It lets developers deploy Ethereum smart contracts and use familiar Ethereum tools while benefiting from NEAR's speed and low fees, with a bridge connecting it to Ethereum.
Aurora was developed by Aurora Labs, a team spun out of the NEAR ecosystem, and launched in 2021. It also offers technology for businesses to launch their own Ethereum-compatible chains on NEAR. The AURORA token is used for governance of the Aurora DAO and for ecosystem incentives.
