About Metis Token
Metis (METIS) is the token of Metis, an Ethereum layer-2 ecosystem that launched its Andromeda network, an optimistic rollup, in 2021. Andromeda was among the first layer-2 networks to use a decentralized sequencer, where a group of staked nodes, rather than one operator, orders transactions.
Metis has added Hyperion, a high-performance network aimed at AI and other demanding applications, which works alongside Andromeda. METIS pays gas fees on Andromeda, is staked by sequencer nodes and is used for governance and ecosystem incentives.
