About ConstitutionDAO
ConstitutionDAO (PEOPLE) is a token linked to ConstitutionDAO, an online group that formed in November 2021 to try to buy one of the original printed copies of the US Constitution at a Sotheby's auction. The group raised over $40 million in ether from thousands of contributors in less than a week but was outbid by hedge fund manager Ken Griffin.
Contributors could claim refunds, and those who did not received PEOPLE tokens in proportion to their contribution. The DAO wound down after the auction, and PEOPLE now trades as a meme coin with no formal utility. Its price is driven by speculation and is highly volatile.
