About Status Network Token
Status (SNT) is the token of Status, an open-source mobile app that combines a private messenger, a crypto wallet and a Web3 browser. The idea was presented at Ethereum's DevCon2 in 2016, and SNT was sold in a token sale in June 2017. The project was founded by Jarrad Hope and Carl Bennetts.
Status messaging is peer-to-peer and end-to-end encrypted, built on the Waku protocol, and users can create communities and hold Ethereum assets inside the app. The team has also been building Status Network, an Ethereum layer-2 network.
SNT is used for governance votes, for creating and managing communities, and for other features inside the Status app.
