About BUSD
BUSD (BUSD) is a US dollar stablecoin that was issued by Paxos in partnership with Binance, launched in 2019 and regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services. Each BUSD was backed one-to-one by dollar reserves.
In February 2023 the NYDFS ordered Paxos to stop minting new BUSD, and Binance later ended support for the token. Paxos continues to let holders redeem BUSD for dollars or convert it to another Paxos stablecoin, and the token is being phased out.
