About Gemini dollar
Gemini Dollar (GUSD) is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Gemini Trust Company, the New York crypto exchange and custodian founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. It launched in 2018 under the supervision of the New York State Department of Financial Services.
Each GUSD is backed by US dollars held at banks and in government money market funds, and reserves are checked monthly by an independent accounting firm. GUSD is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and can be exchanged one-to-one for dollars on Gemini.
