About UMA Voting Token v1
UMA (UMA) is the token of UMA, an Ethereum-based protocol whose name stands for Universal Market Access. It was founded by Hart Lambur and Allison Lu and is best known for its Optimistic Oracle.
The Optimistic Oracle lets anyone propose an answer to a question, such as a price or the outcome of an event. If no one disputes it within a set period, the answer is accepted. Disputed answers go to UMA token holders, who vote to settle them. The oracle is used by prediction markets like Polymarket, by the Across bridge and by other apps.
UMA holders vote on disputes and governance and earn rewards for participating.
