About Irys
Irys (IRYS) is the native token of Irys, a layer-1 datachain that combines on-chain data storage and smart contract execution in one network. The project began as Bundlr, a service for uploading data to Arweave, and later developed its own chain.
Irys lets users pay for storage either for a fixed term or permanently with a one-time fee, and its IrysVM execution layer, compatible with the EVM, lets smart contracts read and work with stored data directly. Validators are required to prove that they keep storing their assigned data partitions. IRYS pays for storage and execution and is used to reward and stake for the miners and validators that run the network.
