About Curve DAO Token

Curve DAO Token (CRV) is the governance token of Curve Finance, a decentralized exchange that specializes in swapping assets meant to trade at nearly the same price. Typical pairs include different dollar stablecoins or different forms of staked ether, where traders want large swaps with very little slippage.

Curve launched in 2020 and became one of the core pieces of DeFi infrastructure. Its pool design concentrates liquidity around a single price, which makes it efficient for stable assets. Later versions added pools for volatile assets, and the project also runs crvUSD, its own overcollateralized stablecoin with a soft-liquidation mechanism.

CRV holders can lock their tokens as veCRV for up to four years. Locked tokens give voting power over which pools receive CRV emissions, a share of trading fees and boosted rewards for liquidity providers. Competition for these votes between protocols became known as the "Curve Wars", and it shaped much of how DeFi incentive programs work today.
