About Euro Coin
EURC is a euro-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle, the company behind USDC. Each EURC is designed to be redeemable one-to-one for euros, and it is backed by euro-denominated reserves held at regulated financial institutions.
EURC launched in 2022 under the name Euro Coin. Since the European Union's MiCA regulation took effect, Circle has issued it under an electronic money license in France, making it one of the first euro stablecoins to comply with the EU's crypto rules. This has helped it become one of the largest euro stablecoins by supply.
EURC is available on several blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Base and Stellar. It is used for euro payments, trading pairs on exchanges and DeFi apps that need a euro unit of account rather than a dollar one.
