What is Bid-ask spread?
The difference between the highest price a buyer offers and the lowest price a seller accepts.
A tight spread (a few hundredths of a percent on major coins) is a sign of a healthy, liquid market. A wide spread is a hidden cost: buying and immediately selling would lose the spread.
