About ORE
ORE (ORE) is a mineable digital currency built on Solana. Rather than running its own proof-of-work blockchain, ORE uses a Solana program in which participants compete to earn newly issued tokens, so it relies on Solana's network for security and speed instead of consuming energy to secure a separate chain.
The project presents ORE as hard money that cannot be debased by a central party, and it is named after Nicholas Oresme, a 14th-century thinker who wrote about money belonging to its users. The token has a capped supply and is used for transfers, mining rewards and DeFi on Solana. The mining design has been changed in several versions since its 2024 launch.
