About Euler
Euler (EUL) is the governance token of Euler Finance, a lending and borrowing protocol first launched on Ethereum in 2022. Unlike early lenders that only supported a short list of assets, Euler was designed to let users create markets for a much wider range of tokens, using risk tiers to limit exposure to illiquid assets.
In March 2023 the original protocol was exploited for about 197 million dollars; the attacker later returned the funds. The team relaunched as Euler v2 in 2024, a modular system in which anyone can build and connect customised lending vaults. EUL holders vote on protocol parameters and treasury decisions, and the token is used in incentive programmes across supported chains.
