About Synthetix Network Token
Synthetix (SNX) is one of the oldest DeFi protocols on Ethereum, launched in 2018 under the name Havven. It became known for synthetic assets, tokens that track the prices of currencies, commodities and crypto, created by stakers locking SNX as collateral.
The protocol has since refocused on perpetual futures trading. Its newest exchange combines fast off-chain order matching with on-chain settlement on Ethereum mainnet. SNX holders stake their tokens to back the system and earn a share of trading fees, and they govern the protocol through elected councils.
