About Frax
Legacy Frax Dollar (FRAX) is the original stablecoin of Frax Finance, launched in 2020 as the first "fractional-algorithmic" stablecoin, partly backed by collateral and partly by the value of the FXS token. Frax later moved FRAX to full collateral backing.
In 2025 Frax introduced frxUSD as its main stablecoin and began migrating users away from FRAX, which is why this token is now labeled as legacy. It remains in use in some DeFi pools, but most new activity in the Frax ecosystem is focused on frxUSD.
